Joint forest management for fire prevention

 

GEFRECON is a European project under the European program EP - INTERREG V A Spain Portugal (POCTEP), led by the Ávila County Council. It develops innovative actions to reduce the risk of forest fires in the POCTEP territory, implement joint plans, raise awareness and advise the population on self-protection, or encourage forestry companies' creation.

The consortium that has launched the project is made up of ten partners, including six Spaniards, in addition to the Avila County Council, the Santa Maria la Real Foundation, which will contribute its experience in the application of new technologies to the conservation of cultural and natural heritage. The Spanish representation is completed by Montes de las Navas SA, Instituto Tecnológico de Galicia Foundation (ITG), Ente Público Regional de la Energía de Castilla y León (EREN) and A Coruña County Council. Together with them, four Portuguese partners: Comunidade Intermunicipal do Alto Minho, Centro da Biomassa para a Energia, ENERAREA - Agência Regional de Energia e Ambiente do Interior, RNAE - Associação das Agências de Energia e Ambiente (Rede Nacional).

The joint work will be carried out until 2021, with a budget of 1,000,324.53 €
