Domestic buildings generate 40% of total energy consumption in the European Union and account for 36% of total CO2 emissions. About 35% of these buildings are more than 50 years old, and about 75% of the housing stock is energy inefficient. Only 1% of these homes are renovated each year due to expensive and time-consuming processes, causing inconvenience to neighbors.

The project (2020-2024) aims to demonstrate the sustainable and rapid retrofitting of domestic dwellings by integrating innovative, cost-effective, and environmentally friendly prefabricated technologies. It seeks to achieve the near-zero energy target by reducing heat losses through the building envelope and energy consumption through heating, cooling, ventilation, and lighting while increasing the share of renewable energy in buildings.
